Bases
In NocoDB, a base is the main structure that holds your data. It contains tables, views, forms, dashboards and more. A base is a complete environment to organize data and work on it with other people. Each base belongs to one workspace.
The person who creates a base becomes its owner. A base must always have one or more owners. A base can have more than one owner, and each owner has full control of the base settings and permissions.
Base-level Permissions
Each base has its own members and permissions, separate from workspace access. This lets you control who can see or edit the content of a base. To manage members, refer to Base Collaboration. For more detailed access control, refer to Table Permissions and Field Permissions.
Base Dashboard
The base dashboard is the first page that opens when you open a base. It gives quick access to common data actions.

Data Actions
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Create New Table | Starts a new empty table. |
| Import Data | Uploads data from files and external sources. |
| Create Dashboard | Builds a dashboard with charts and widgets to show your data. |
| Sync Data | Mirrors a Grid view from another base (NocoDB Sync), or gets data from an external system (App Sync). |
| Connect External Data | Connects in realtime to external databases, for example MySQL or PostgreSQL. |
Availability
- To create a base, you need the Creator or Owner role in the workspace.
